VRgluv Awarded Epic MegaGrant from Creators of Unreal Engine

What is an Epic MegaGrant?

According to their website, “Epic Games has committed $100 million to support game developers, enterprise professionals, media and entertainment creators, students, educators, and tool developers doing amazing things with Unreal Engine or enhancing open-source capabilities for the 3D graphics community.”

What is Unreal Engine (UE4)?

“Unreal Engine is the world’s most open and advanced real-time 3D creation platform. Continuously evolving to serve not only its original purpose as a state-of-the-art games engine, today it gives creators across industries the freedom and control to deliver cutting-edge content, interactive experiences, and immersive virtual worlds.” -From the Unreal Engine website

New applications for interactive 3D technologies like Unreal Engine are developed every day and include much more than just video games. The platform has been a longtime player in education, training & simulation and has more recently gained traction for its innovative capabilities in TV/film, including contributions to the popular Disney show, The Mandalorian as an example.

What does this mean for the future of Virtual Reality?

Using the Epic Megagrants funding, VRgluv will develop a new custom SDK and integration between our products and UE4. For the first time, developers will be able to create VR simulations within UE4 and manipulate them using VRgluv’s haptic gloves. The combination of Unreal Engine’s 3D graphic capabilities and VRgluv’s haptic technologies will establish the new ultramodern for hands-on VR content, pushing realism and immersion to a whole new level. It's truly a match made in (VR) heaven.
